shooting with emily extended

here i have just been playing with different editing styles. with my final set of images i will editing them all in the same way but i think i should be trying out different things until i have all my images together.

i think this one is my favourite of the three. i like the clear look of it and the lack of colour although that could be a little distracting from the point.

i like the look of this but im not a big fan of the tones. im going to keep trying this kind od editing and see if it grows on me.

this one is closest to my origional idea but this picture looks a little too harsh to me, although i like this picture alot so i will try one again.

back to the cold tone preset here. i just really like the green piercing through the desaturated back ground. i also really like the look of the model here. it dosnt exactly fit in with the look i had in mind but it has grown on me.

i think this one may be my favourite so far. i love the tone and i like the soft expression on the models face and the clear milky tones of her skin. i also like the strange angle of the camera here.

shooting with emily

here is my first attempt of my modern (western) geisha idea. i have kept with the giesha idea by having lots of eye makeup, using brightly coloured clothing have hair decatration. i have however changed it a little to make it more accesable to current fashion. i have changed the traditional hair, i did think about having all my models with traditional hair but this is not somthing that is likely to become a fashionable style. i have chosen not to use kumonos as clothing because i wanted it to look more modern.

here is the orional image with just a little editing on it. i like the clarity of it but it dosnt pack quite the punch that im after.
with this one i have added a direct positive preset and a preset called punch and it certinly dose.
i like the brightness of the colors here. making the theme green wasnt really the plan until the last minute. origionaly the model was only going to wear a pink and black dress but i think the green is much more effective. with this edit i was inspired by Akif Hakan Celebi with floresent colours and a backdrop that its interesting but not too distracting.

this really wasnt the plan to make the pictures look anything like this but i really like it. its really different and stand out to me. i want shoot other colours and edit them the same with very pale looking skin and very bright colours.

i really like the look of this image but i dont know if it is comersialy viable at all. it may also be venturuing a little too far from my origianal idea.

possible locations

here are some locations that i have found and i think that they would make really great back drops to my photos. they are interesting but not too distracting. im trying to keep local to were i live because i dont drive, all these places are within walking distance to me.

this one is different to the others, i think that the blossoms would look really nice but i would have to shoot within the next week.

my attempt of makeup

here is my own rather poor attempt of doing makeup myself. i realise that i am no expert in applying makup but i wanted to just give myself a small idea of what the makeup would look like with a little but if help with my imagination.

in this image i have tried to mimic the look of a petal from a lily using rosey pink colours and orange flicks. i think that the colours should be bolder and the makeup should be thicker.
this makeup look is ment to replicate a peacock feather. i like these colours together but i think that i will maby cut back on the green and add more browns/golds.

i really like this one and i dont think i want to change it, maby just ask my makeup artist to do it nicer.

make up ideas

I realise that i have not posted anything onto my blog for a few weeks but i have been busy sketching and planning.
I have made some sketes of idea of what i want the makeup to be like.
I am working with a makeup artist and im confident we will make the models stand out and look really funky.

with this look I want to havve nude pale skin t fit with the geisha look. I also want nude colour lips and peackock feathers flowing on the the models face. for the eye shadow i want the colour and mattern to look like the colours and pattern on the feathers. i indend to stick the feathers down on to th skin with eye lash glue, good on the skin and easy to remove.
for this image i want to darken the eyebrows to give a younger look. i also want to use red and pink eye shadow eround the eyes with think black lines typical of the geisha look. i also want to have the centre of the lips coloured red. im going to do this using red eyeshadow, i have tested both red eyeshadow and red lipstick and find the eyeshow looks better and is easier so apply.
i am also going to use yellow eyeshadow to highlight the cheeks.

this one i want to be more simple, all i want to do is have dark red lips and very think black eyeliner. i will then add a black net eye mask to add a bit of depth.

in this image i wish have a colder look. just pale pink lips so to not draw to much attention. think black eyeliner with a flick and icey blue eyeshadow blended in. i am going to add buttyfly hair decorations so i want the makeup to be a little understaded in this one.

this dose not look like a very attractive makeover, i am not the best at blending my colours. what i want for this though is red eye shadow all over the eye lid and to have it lines with orange. i also want red in the centre of the lips and the cheak bones to be highlighted. this is alot of makeup so i will add a smaller hait accessory in this case.

back to the simple idea again here. again with the black eye liner but with this one i want to make it bigger and alot more like a cat. i also want to have the outside of the eye lightly blended pink. i dont think i will have any colour on the lips for this one.

makeup research ideas

I have always been fascinated with eyes and how powerful then can be so for my shoots it is very important to me that i get this part perfect.
i have found a makeup artist to work alongside me with this, i am going to design the make up for her and explain to her what it is i am doing and what i want and she will give her opinions on my ideas and tell me how they could be made better. i am also going to be bringing her along to my locations to shoot.

these look a little bit Gothic but i think that if they were done a little differently with some colour and detail they would suit my look very well..

i love this and it really fits in with my idea of modern geisha. i think i would make the eye liner a little thicker and add some false eye lashes. i love the colour and would really go with some of the props i have.
i like the idea and the detail on this i may use something similar by using dots to resemble a petal from a lily.
i have bought some eye lashes like these. its very nice but not geisha, i will make some designs and see i can make of it. I'm sure the eyelashes will come in useful for something in the future.

Momoirs of a geisha

i found this movie trailer on youtube and i have been absaloutly blown away by it. I now know that i need to see this to add more to my research. just from this short trailer i can see that it has some really beautiful shots and the hair make up and costume is more modern and sexy than geishas usualy are.
i will wach this film and print screen all the parts the i think a good shots and this will hopefuly get me some extra inspiration.
