Other Hair Ideas

Pretty Geisha Hair

the second key element to the Geisha look is the hair. i didn't think that this was something i could do myself and was going to look into buying wigs but i have now found this tutorial and it looks pretty easy to create. i think that i will use the traditional hair style for one and i may change it and try different but similar styles for the other shots.
i am going to do make up, hair and lighting tests for all of these shots.

The Geisha look

Traditional Geisha makeup is very heavy and takes a long time to do. As much as i like this i think that with my images i may try and recreate the look. possibly change the colour scheme from the the traditional red lips and eyes and try and experiment with other colours and combinations.

I really like this look, i think that i will practice and experiment with this. i would also like the play with the different things used to decorate the hair.

Akif Hakan Celebi

Akif Hakan Celebi was a lagre factor when deciding that i wanted to use Geishas in my work. I came across his work a few months ago when researching photographers to study for an essey.

I really love this set of images! i love the images that are just the model in the middle of the frame looking straight forward. Again I like how the locations could be anywere, nowere special, not flown to a different country for it, just a wall, just stone floor, just a metal container.
i like how delicate yet striking all the girls look. these are not all striktly Geishas but i like the extream looking hair and makeup, the almost look like dolls.

Olaf Wipperfurth

i found these images on http://www.fashiongonerouge.com/. these images featured in the magazine flair.

I really like the hair styles and clothes in these images, although I would prefer there to be more make up on the model as the makeup is often the most interesting and iconic part of the Geisha look.
I like the location and that it could be anywhere in the world. In some office building with a few props to indicate japan. I also like the the clothes that are used and how minimal it is. Geisha's are known for their many layers and complex clothing routine.

Inspiration

I would really like to research and produce a set of Geisha themed imaged. I find Geishas to really interesting and beautiful. I want to add this same delicate beauty to my work while giving them while doing it in a new modern way.

Fashion Brief

So here is my first blog. I now get to do fashion and want to get really stuck in. I attend to give great attention to

Clothes

Hair

Makeup

Location

Props

Layout

Photographic style

I have to produce six images for this brief and for each one I want to illustrate a different kind of style and present them as a set.

I realise that I may be giving myself a lot of work to do but I really want to be able to challenge myself and really push myself. I really look forward to getting started on this.
